Townsville Fighting Game Fans Unite posted by Darth Shrike on May 6, 2010

We're looking at building a fighting game community here in Townsville and surrounding areas. We will be running some local fighting game tournaments for Street Fighter 4 and Tekken 6 fans.

Keep an eye out for our fliers at local computer gaming stores and on this website for more info. Don't forget to check out the forums and chat about which fighting game if your favourite and why.

We're still here posted by Darth Shrike on Nov 15, 2007

So its been quite a while since I've posted on the front page. Just letting everyone know that I'm still investigating possible locations to have another CBLAN, but suitable venues in Townsville are hard to come by.

Have a look in the forums and have your say on what you think we should be doing for the next CB. Now is the time to speak up and let us know what you think.

Happy Birthday CBLAN posted by Darth Shrike on Jul 3, 2006

Well today marks the 7 year anniversary of when CBLAN first started, back in the Table Tennis Hall on Charters Towers Road with 30 hardcore gamers pulling an all nighter. CBLAN 1 ran from 6pm Saturday night to 8am Sunday morning. Games played were Quake 3 Test, Half-Life Deathmatch, Quake 2 CTF and surprise surprise.. Counter-Strike, in its very first release with left handed weapon models and different ammo types for each gun and 2 maps. The network was somewhat smaller than it is these days with 2x Intel 24 Port 10/100 Switches and 2 dedicated servers with a static IP network.

I'd like to send out a thank you to all the people that have attended CBLAN over the years, its great to be able to give something back to Townsville's gaming community. Also a very special thank you to the handful of people that have been attending CBLAN since CB1 (I think there are only 2-3 people who have not missed one).
